Check Out What We Have Been Up To In Owls Class!

Sporting Owls

This week Owls class took part in a special sporting event. We played volley ball and a running game, developing our team working skills and communication. Everyone worked really hard. Well done Owls!

Wild Things!

This week we have been looking at the book, Where the Wild Things Are. The children in owls have enjoyed putting actions to the story and retelling the story in their own words. We then created our own Wild Thing character.

Researchers

This week, Owls class have been researching different animals for our own fact file booklets. We used a range of sources, including; I-pads, leaflets, non-fiction books and ask an expert to make our own notes. We then used the information we found in our own booklet ready to share with reception.

Musical Owls

This week Owls have enjoyed practising and performing songs in music. We improvised putting our own movement to the beat.

Healthy Salads.

Today in D&T, Owls made, tasted and evaluated a healthy salad. They all needed to create a salad which was 1) healthy, 2) colourful and 3) tasty. All enjoyed tasting the delicious fruits and vegetables.

Fruits and Vegetables

This week in science, Owls have been looking at different plants. The children have been learning to recognise the difference between fruits and vegetables. They also had to sort the fruits and vegetables and discussed similarities and differences.

Coding blocks

This week in Owls class, we have been looking at coding. We learnt that a computer needs instructions (code) to perform a task. We used simple coding blocks to instruct fish to swim.

Number Day Success!

The children at Beeches Infants impressed me so much with their wonderful numbots outfits! An amazing effort made by all! Children explored maths activities all afternoon with bingo, treasure and scavenger hunts and lots more that happened all around school! Today we have been writing good luck letters and cards to King Charles III, we will be sending these to his royal residence and eagerly awaiting a reply! Groups of numbers

This week, Owls have been looking at groups of numbers. They have been practising counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s and showing these with counters or pictures.
