Unicef – Our Rights as Children

As a Rights Respecting School, we have been exploring what our rights as children should look like.

To do this we first discussed what the word ‘rights’ meant to us. We then all shared what we thought we have the right to do. We came up with rights such as, ‘The right to play’ and ‘The right to do activities’. We then looked at 4 pictures as a group to think about what different rights they could represent, and what rights we have.

We learnt that we have the right to ‘food, clean water, the right to have a sense of belonging/ safe space and the right to a safe home’. We enjoyed discussing our new rights we learnt, and made links to how we have these with our families.

We learnt that we have so many rights to help and support us, and these were just a few important ones.
